# Create an Account

Sign up at brd.digital — no invite, no sales call.

Sign-up is open. Go to the [login page](https://brd.digital/login), create an account, and you are into verification within a minute.

## 1 · Sign up

Create your account with an email address and a password, then confirm the email.

## 2 · Verify your identity

Verification runs through **Sumsub**. You submit an identity document and complete a liveness check in the browser — no separate portal, and you never email documents to anyone.

Sumsub also screens country eligibility. See Identity Verification for the tiers and what to prepare.

## 3 · Secure the account

Set up your second factor: scan the QR code in a TOTP authenticator app and confirm with a 6-digit code.

You are then shown **one-time backup codes**. They appear once, on screen only, and cannot be retrieved later — store them somewhere you treat as secret.

{% hint style="warning" %}
A password alone grants access to nothing. Until the second factor is complete, the session cannot see balances, transactions or account data.
{% endhint %}

## If you are an institution

Self-serve works for most users. Organizations needing higher limits, multiple users, or a corporate account structure go through **KYB** instead — contact <institutional@brdcapital.com>. You can open an individual account in the meantime.

## If something goes wrong

<table><thead><tr><th width="250">Problem</th><th>What to do</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Verification declined</td><td>Sumsub states a reason — usually document quality or country eligibility.</td></tr><tr><td>Authenticator device lost</td><td>Sign in with a backup code, then register a new authenticator.</td></tr><tr><td>Backup codes lost</td><td>Contact support for identity re-verification.</td></tr><tr><td>Forgotten password</td><td>Use the reset link on the sign-in page.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Next step

→ Identity Verification, or Connect a Wallet once verified.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://brd-digital.gitbook.io/brd-digital-docs/getting-started/create-an-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
